Hey friends! We're doing Sci-fi for this months Big Buddy Read! Y'all voted and chose The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi! This read will start on the 15th and will not have an end date. Take your time and enjoy!

Here's what I said about the book when I read it last year . . . .THE KAIJU PRESERVATION SOCIETY is the most fun you can have while reading a science-fiction novel. This one gets my nomination for Most Entertaining and Engaging Stand-Alone Novel of the Year. For that reason, it earns five stars.
Great quirky characters, funny cynical observations, snappy dialogue, light-hearted social commentary and a really engaging storyline. Plus giant monsters, secret government agencies, corrupt and greedy corporate interests - - what's not to like?
I also made some notes after Chapter Five and Chapter Eleven, but if curious please don't look up my review and read those until after you have read those chapters.

I agreed with the author's comparing this story to a catchy pop song you can't help but sing along to. It's that level of fun!

I’m a little over 25% completed, and so far this book has been a fun, wild ride. It’s relatable in how we all felt the effects of and anxiety about Covid impacting our lives, livelihood, and relationships when it first hit. I’ve already got a good feel for the personalities of each character, and they come across as genuine… young, but genuine. The dialogue is quick and clever. This book was a good pick and I’m excited to find out where the story goes!

Ruth, so happy to see you here, I just finished Chapter 4 and loving this one, I didn't expect so much witty humor haha.

I started last night, that scene with the vaccinations had me laughing so hard! I wasn't prepared for this to be hilarious, I am ridiculously happy right now!

On chapter 7 now, it's hard to read physical books around my kid, he keeps trying to rip it out of my hands lol.

That's so sweet! He's into a new thing now, taking his favorite baby books and shredding them with his fingers leaving me little patterns all over the house.

He's also obsessed with my King Dark Tower box set, he's busy stacking them in the morning, so far he hasn't ripped a single page yet, I'm impressed.

No! You haven't finished The Dark Tower yet! Put it up high and let him mess with something less important!

That nickname made me want to laugh and cry at the same time! LOL, Like an Auntie talking about her favorite niece or nephew.

The decoy book is a good idea (except for the destructive aspect).

This book is hilarious, and I love how the science is made so easy to understand. I think Niamh is my favorite character. Their snark is unmatched! And I am in love with Riddu Tagaq, such a bad ass!

I flew through this one, it was so enjoyable to read I didn't want to stop. And since it's the weekend, I didn't have to!

Chapter 11 is quite fascinating!

I started this late yesterday, and got the MC hired on to the mysterious KPS. I'm now firmly entrenched into Kaiju Earth and have had my first airborne kaiju duel on a dirigible.

The humor is great. I forget how fun Scalzi is, until I pick up a new book by him!

Got up to them going into the dorms. I can see now why people were talking about the vaccines holy cow how about a heck no. (view spoiler)[ the kaiju fight wow I would not wanna be down there or in that little plan and not near water I can't imagine the size of those mosquitoes I think I would die from one sting. Also the idea of the kaiju earth threw me off for a second cause I was gonna say how are they on earth but not. Portals of course! (hide spoiler)]
