After René discovers who Evan is, he sets up an auction, inviting many of Evan’s enemies, including Van Sciver. Even with his skills, did this feel like the end for Evan? Do you believe René was aware of who he was dealing with, really, and what was to come?

Rene must have realized that he was some super operative, but he didn't have a clue what he was up against.

If I didn't know there were more books in this series, I would have expected this one to be the end.

Charlene, this part was intense. I wasn't sure where the author was going to take the story. Honestly, I started thinking "death of a character" could get checked on the challenge. LOL

René had no clue what he was courting even with finding out how many people wanted the chance to 'buy' Evan. René is one of those characters who always think they are the smarter than everyone else.
