Out of seemingly nowhere, Jack appears to rescue Evan after he’d escaped into the woods. Did you see that coming?

Not at all. Even though I expected Jack to return, I didn't expect him to make the big rescue.

Perhaps, with all of Evan's recollections of Jack in his flashbacks, I might have assumed that Jack did not actually perish.

With all the shooting at Evan and his critical injuries, the author must have planned the "deus ex machina" rescue -- the only possibility at that point.

I didn't know how Evan was going to make it through this situation. I didn't think about Jack possibly rescuing him.

I did not think Jack survived the garage shooting. Having him in the helo... I was just like 'whhhaaattt???' while I was listening to my audio.
