Now a major motion picture A Man Called Otto starring Tom Hanks!

#1 New York Times bestseller—more than 3 million copies sold!

Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him “the bitter neighbor from hell.” But must Ove be bitter just because he doesn’t walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time?

Behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul. All of which will change one cranky old man and a local residents’ association to their very foundations.

Fredrik Backman’s beloved first novel about the angry old man next door is a thoughtful exploration of the profound impact one life has on countless others. “If there was an award for ‘Most Charming Book of the Year,’ this first novel by a Swedish blogger-turned-overnight-sensation would win hands down”

Bonnie I am so excited for this one.

♥ Sandi ❣ | 617 comments I watched A man Called Ove - with subtitles and really enjoyed that one. But I too would like to see this one. I am a Tom Hanks fan anyway.

stephanie I seen this movie as a screener, and loved it. It touched every part of the trials that we are ALL going thru here in this world. Tom and his actual son did a good job on this. Very sad in many parts. I hope that Tom Hanks gives himself a pat on the back for this one, but I don't know if this will be a top tender when the awards come around, because you have some heavier hitter movies.

Bonnie got our tickets to watch this Saturday :)

stephanie Let us know if you like it Bonnie...

Phyllis Runyan | 17 comments I saw it yesterday. It was excellent.

Bonnie loved it. Not exactly the same as the book (different setting for instance) but I felt Tom Hanks captured Ove/Otto so well, and lots of other great acting/actors.

I watched this on Netflix a few nights ago and loved it. Hanks is so versatile and such a good actor. Well worth the time to watch even if you have read the book and seen the 'Ove' edition.
