Andrea | 2163 comments I wasn’t aware that a new Kindle model had been launched until I spotted this review by CHOICE:

https://www.choice.com.au/electronics...

Last year I upgraded from Voyage to Oasis (and still using both, to be honest) so I won’t be in the market for a new Kindle for a while. I love that last point they make in the review about considering what it will be like when it falls on your face as you drift off to sleep - that happens to me all the time 😂

Since I read on a Kindle for the very reason that it is so small and light this new one isn't going to interest me at all.

Sandra | 1176 comments I bought a new kindle in the black friday sales 2022, and noticed the Scribe then.

It didn't interest me at all, either.

Too big and clunky for me too!

message 5: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3564 comments I managed to leave my lovely Paperwhite on the plane a fortnight ago. (I'm still in the process of attempting to get it back, however I do not hold out much hope, sadly.)

I was browsing Kindles last night, and saw this, and thought the size was an immediate put off. I love the ability to hold it in one hand at night, and often fall asleep reading, so I'm really keen to avoid being concussed!

Oh no Leonie!! That's awful - you would have been devastated! Someone probably picked it up and decided they'd like to read all those books on there ;) I do hope you get it back!!

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3564 comments Apparently one matching its description has been found, (according to Virgin), but I have now been waiting for Melbourne Airport to contact me - for two weeks.

Have just submitted an online form to them. I live in hope.

Good luck Leonie. Would your travel insurance cover a replacement if you can’t get it back? If so, you could do a lot better than the Scribe model!

I have to confess to having no travel insurance across Australia. We always have it for international travel, but never for interstate. And I can't even claim I booked it via credit card, and therefore get the automatic insurance, because I didn't. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷‍♀️

But today, after lodging the enquiry with Melbourne airport, I received a reply.

Apparently I should call my airline....🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ but since I have already done that three times, only for them to tell me that Melbourne airport will call me about it....I feel as if I'm trapped, or rather, my Kindle is trapped, in an infinite loop.

Keep at it.

These days I have found the only way to get people to do something is to become an annoyance. My rule is another email/call every 3 business days until I get a resolution. 😂

As for the Kindle Scribe, I can only think this would appeal to those who are blinkered to see Amazon Kindle products only. At this size and for this money, I would do what I am doing now - using a normal tablet and then using the free apps. I have about a dozen apps for ebooks and audio books all on the one device.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3564 comments I rang again. And....got an email tonight. It is found. Could I please collect it from Melbourne Airport. The only tricky bit is that I live in rural NSW. Have replied asking if it can be posted.

They're an airline! Surely they can fly it to you!

Oh good grief! Postage that they can surely afford!! And yay! Glad it's found Leonie!

Ah well, it was my fault for forgetting it.

They can send using Pack and Fly at my expense. At least I won't have to set up a new one.

I hope it doesn't cost too much. But it'd be cheaper than driving there - or buying a new kindle!

message 19: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3564 comments Kindle is home, safe, sound, and working! It wasn't cheap to get it home, but still cheaper than a new one. So pleased it's back!
