Did I say what was happening at the time of the quote/evidence? • Find evidence from the text that proves that the change was important? • Paraphrase (This shows....) and then analyze how my quote proves my claim ("This proves that ____________________was an important moment because.../This interested me because..../I disliked this because..../This changed my point of view because.....)? • Write a conclusion sentence that restates your claim in a different way?
In the book Red Scarf Girl by Ji li Jiang a realistic fiction novel. The adversity in the book is that her father is in jail and that her family past was that they were landlords and that her family and dad friends are getting beaten up. For example in the text is said that "I stopped and sow his face. It was swollen, bruised, and bloody. Standing in the dark doorway he looked like a monster."(173) This shows that Ji Li Jiang was facing Adversity in her life when she was at a young age. It also shows that she was facing a big obstacle. This proves that this was a important moment because it was showing how the character handled the situation and how she reacted when the character was seeing a bloody face. In the sci-fi/fantasy book, Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead, the adversity in the book is that Rose was in a very serious relationship with a guardian until someone turned him into a strigoi but to get over that she moved on to a boy that really likes her which is Adrian. Rose is a teenage dhampir which is a guardian for vampires and in the last book, she realizes that her and Dimitri can be together because he's a dangerous vampire and you cant be in a relationship with someone like that unless they were both strigoi. In this book, she has a boyfriend named Adrian, even though he isn't like Dimitri, Rose doesn't see a future for her and Adrian like she did for her and Dimitri. Rose states, " I don't plan on your marrying him or having a real future with him," (89) This shows that Rose isn't as happy as she was when she was with Dimitri. This proves that Rose isn't fully over Dimitri and even though Adrian is her boyfriend, all that really matters to her is that she's happy. Therefore, Rose faced adversity in her life.

These group of famous children in time were stolen by time travelers, the group of people are finding a way to go back to their time but they are having a hard time. The group of people are having a hard time and are stressed for what they are going through, a time they were stressed was when they were stuck in a hut with rain pounding on them and Katherine and Jonah were talking and Andrea told them to stop making things worse by talking about things they didn't have, "Make it a nice warm robe for me. Katherine and Jonah were saying. Stop it! Andrea said fiercely, that just makes it worse."(114) This shows that the group of people from history are struggling and going through rough times right now from being pulled into this from the time travelers. But right after he sees two dead kids and thinks of his friends Jonathan and Max. Right then he screams, "there is no one left god kill me now" (93). This shows that Stephen believes that there is no one to save them for the plague. This proves that Stephen deals with adversity because rather than having a easy time dealing with a plague he has to be a pessimist and deal with the truth. Therefore Stephen deals with adversity.
