Hi, new buddy read thread, starting today :)

Hey I’m buying mine now since my damn library doesn’t have a print version! So I’ll start tonight too!

Oh no...surprising they dont have one. I started but only read 5 pages at lunchtime lol...doesn't count.

Only read the first 30 pages...they were quite info dumpy hahaha but I am intrigued by the vampire lol

Oh I’ve been wanting to read this! I’m finishing up another book and then I’ll join you guys! Put a hold in at the library.

Thanks Corina!! I hope you guys don’t get too far ahead before I pick the book up. Is there a certain pace you’ve set or just everyone read at their own pace?

We don't really set up a pace, we just avoid spoilers until everyone gets there haha

Yeah I’m picking up my copy today I was able to get it from a neighboring library instead of buying it so I’ll start tonight!!!

All good, I'm only 50 pages in. I'll be honest, the writing isn't drawing me in as such. As I said before its a bit info dumpy in a sense...you just get a narration on Diana's back story. But I am intrigued to see where the story will go.

I'm still starting it off and I agree Corina, it is very info-dumpy but I'm enjoying it so far! I've been having trouble concentrating on reading lately but this one seems to be keeping me entertained lol

Hi ladies, has everyone started? I haven't made much progress on this one as I haven't had much time to sit down and read, mostly listened to audiobooks. I'm on chapter 8 I believe.

I also haven't made much progress! still on chapter 5 but I'll catch up to you today, Corina :) I had a hard time getting into it at first but I'm actually enjoying it a lot more as I go along! I think it's because it's longer so it's a lot slower haha

Yes I'm listening to the audiobook! I like it, the narrator's do a good job! actually i don't remember if there are 2 or just one.. they do the voices for everyone and a lot have different accents!

Ohhh...maybe I will try and get the audiobook. I feel like it's not too complex and I can listen to it. I generally stay away from chunky epic fantasies on audio cause I feel like I would lose important information lol

Give them a go, Courtney! I started off easy with romance, memoirs. Some of them are so good!

I really like Julia Wheelan as a narrator. She does Emily Henry and Taylor Jenkins Reid's books.

Also, the lady that narrated the Diviners series (January Lavoy I believe) was amazing.

Or a memoir that is narrated by the author like Know My Name or I'm Glad my Mom Died are also really good.

omg January Lavoy WAASSS amazing!!! Every single characters voice was so unique!! and it fit their personalities so well! She really contributed so much to how much I enjoyed the books!
I also really enjoyed I'm Glad my Mom Died! I'm hoping to read more memoirs this year :) If you ever get the chance, you should definitely pick up Crying in H Mart! I haven't cried like that while reading a book in so long lol

Totally agree about January Lavoy...I could distinguish every character, she was incredible.
Lol...Crying in H Mart has been on my list for a while. I'm always down for a good cry lol.
Know My Name is probably my favourite memoir that I've read. Viola Davis' book was good too.
Educated or In The Glass House are from a few years back, but I thought they were good too.

Lol...I pushed on and finished yesterday. I did it for UNO really otherwise I would have probably given up to be honest.
There were aspects that I liked and it picked up past the halfway mark, but it definitely was longer than it needed to be.

Lol...to be fair, it was just all right by the end of it, nothing amazing to me personally. I don't know if I will carry on with the book series or just watch the tv series hahaha..

Still want to watch the tv series. Maybe its a case of Outlander where I prefer the show to the books lol. Definitely not as long winded haha.
Book 2 in this one is another almost 600 pages, not sure if I can bare it again.
Trying to find some shorter books to finish off UNO for the month.
I did read Six Crimson Cranes which I enjoyed and will probably read the second one next :)

Ya I think that’s on my TBR too! And I liked outlander way more on tv than the series. It’s one of my faves actually!!

Totally feel the same about Outlander. I think I read 3 of the books and the I was like No, I will just stick to the tv series. Though I haven't yet seen season 6 lol

I have also been struggling with this one! Trying to stay motivated with it though!!

I was wondering what you would all think of this one. I thought it dragged a bit and was really just a setup for the next book, which I never did read. I ended up giving it 3 stars. When I read it, it seemed like everyone else but me was loving it.

I absolutely agreed with your review Kristie! I'm not sure I want to waste my time with another almost 600 pages book. I'm in the same camp of not loving it and only finished it because I forced myself to.

I don't have any ideas yet! I've been wanting to read more mystery/thrillers though but I'm open to anything!
