Corina | 2768 comments Hi, new buddy read thread, starting today :)

message 2: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Hey I’m buying mine now since my damn library doesn’t have a print version! So I’ll start tonight too!

message 3: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Oh no...surprising they dont have one. I started but only read 5 pages at lunchtime lol...doesn't count.

message 4: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Only read the first 30 pages...they were quite info dumpy hahaha but I am intrigued by the vampire lol

message 5: by Jess (new)

Jess Combs (jesscombs) | 128 comments Oh I’ve been wanting to read this! I’m finishing up another book and then I’ll join you guys! Put a hold in at the library.

message 6: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments You're more than welcome, Jess! :)

message 7: by S Picazo (new)

S Picazo Page Turner 🎨📖 | 3 comments I loved that first book when I read it. I enjoyed the series but love the first one. Enjoy everyone.

message 8: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Thanks, Stephanie! Good to know :)

message 9: by Jess (new)

Jess Combs (jesscombs) | 128 comments Thanks Corina!! I hope you guys don’t get too far ahead before I pick the book up. Is there a certain pace you’ve set or just everyone read at their own pace?

message 10: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments It's all good, Jess, I'm still at page 30 :)
We don't really set up a pace, we just avoid spoilers until everyone gets there haha

message 11: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Yeah I’m picking up my copy today I was able to get it from a neighboring library instead of buying it so I’ll start tonight!!!

message 12: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments So I haven’t started yet fixing to start tonight!

message 13: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments All good, I'm only 50 pages in. I'll be honest, the writing isn't drawing me in as such. As I said before its a bit info dumpy in a sense...you just get a narration on Diana's back story. But I am intrigued to see where the story will go.

message 14: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments I'm still starting it off and I agree Corina, it is very info-dumpy but I'm enjoying it so far! I've been having trouble concentrating on reading lately but this one seems to be keeping me entertained lol

message 15: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Lol, thats good, Bella! It helps to have an enigmatic handsome vampire too hahaha...
We have reading slumps every now and then...

message 16: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments right! what chapter are you on, Corina? :)

message 17: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Finished chapter 5 :) so not far along

message 18: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Hi ladies, has everyone started? I haven't made much progress on this one as I haven't had much time to sit down and read, mostly listened to audiobooks. I'm on chapter 8 I believe.

message 19: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments I also haven't made much progress! still on chapter 5 but I'll catch up to you today, Corina :) I had a hard time getting into it at first but I'm actually enjoying it a lot more as I go along! I think it's because it's longer so it's a lot slower haha

message 20: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Same I’m on chap 3 lol I should have some time this weekend to catch up!!

message 21: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Yeah, a bit of a slow start for sure...I'm still not 100% invested but I'm defnitely enjoying it more as I go along.

message 22: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments I love the narration of this! and I love seeing Matthews perspective haha. he's such a grump lol

message 23: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Lol...I'm still on chapter 9. Where about are you, Bella?
Didn't get much reading done this weekend and was looking at finishing another book before starting on the Mini challenge.

message 24: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Are you listening to the audiobook?

message 25: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments I just finished Chapter 9! I'm also trying to read for Uno lol
Yes I'm listening to the audiobook! I like it, the narrator's do a good job! actually i don't remember if there are 2 or just one.. they do the voices for everyone and a lot have different accents!

message 26: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Hmm I want to start listening to audio books !!!

message 27: by Corina (new)

Ohhh...maybe I will try and get the audiobook. I feel like it's not too complex and I can listen to it. I generally stay away from chunky epic fantasies on audio cause I feel like I would lose important information lol

Give them a go, Courtney! I started off easy with romance, memoirs. Some of them are so good!

message 28: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments I really like Julia Wheelan as a narrator. She does Emily Henry and Taylor Jenkins Reid's books.

Also, the lady that narrated the Diviners series (January Lavoy I believe) was amazing.

Or a memoir that is narrated by the author like Know My Name or I'm Glad my Mom Died are also really good.

message 29: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments omg January Lavoy WAASSS amazing!!! Every single characters voice was so unique!! and it fit their personalities so well! She really contributed so much to how much I enjoyed the books!
I also really enjoyed I'm Glad my Mom Died! I'm hoping to read more memoirs this year :) If you ever get the chance, you should definitely pick up Crying in H Mart! I haven't cried like that while reading a book in so long lol

message 30: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Totally agree about January Lavoy...I could distinguish every character, she was incredible.
Lol...Crying in H Mart has been on my list for a while. I'm always down for a good cry lol.
Know My Name is probably my favourite memoir that I've read. Viola Davis' book was good too.
Educated or In The Glass House are from a few years back, but I thought they were good too.

message 31: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments I'll put those all on my TBR! :)) Yes, it was a very cathartic cry haha

message 32: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Oh ya Crying in H Mart is on my TBR as well so I’ll def be reading that sometime soon I hope!!! But I’m gonna try and audio one of those ones you suggested Corina!

message 33: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments How is everyone? I'm almost 50% into this one...its still slow going

message 34: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Im like 25% in and ya def slow not my favorite I’m not really interested but I’m gonna try and keep going before I give up

message 35: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Lol...I pushed on and finished yesterday. I did it for UNO really otherwise I would have probably given up to be honest.
There were aspects that I liked and it picked up past the halfway mark, but it definitely was longer than it needed to be.

message 36: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Ok so keep going. What’s next on your uno list?

message 37: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Lol...to be fair, it was just all right by the end of it, nothing amazing to me personally. I don't know if I will carry on with the book series or just watch the tv series hahaha..

message 38: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Ya I know I def wanted to watch the series but I am gonna try and give it another go tonight but honestly I’m not too sure about this one! Another one bites the dust!!

message 39: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Still want to watch the tv series. Maybe its a case of Outlander where I prefer the show to the books lol. Definitely not as long winded haha.
Book 2 in this one is another almost 600 pages, not sure if I can bare it again.
Trying to find some shorter books to finish off UNO for the month.
I did read Six Crimson Cranes which I enjoyed and will probably read the second one next :)

message 40: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Ya I think that’s on my TBR too! And I liked outlander way more on tv than the series. It’s one of my faves actually!!

message 41: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Totally feel the same about Outlander. I think I read 3 of the books and the I was like No, I will just stick to the tv series. Though I haven't yet seen season 6 lol

message 42: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments I have also been struggling with this one! Trying to stay motivated with it though!!

message 43: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments I pushed through, Bella! But not 100% convinced I want to continue with the books lol...maybe I will just watch the show

message 44: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments I’m probably not gonna finish but do you guys have anything in particular you want to check out

message 45: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Its all good, Courtney, it took a lot of will power to get through it and it kind off put in a bit of a slump lol.
Not sure...I mean I do have quite a few books on my shelves and kindle but its always so hard to pick. Anything that you are thinking about?

message 46: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments I'm ready to start something else as well haha

message 47: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Any ideas, Bella?

message 48: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5929 comments I was wondering what you would all think of this one. I thought it dragged a bit and was really just a setup for the next book, which I never did read. I ended up giving it 3 stars. When I read it, it seemed like everyone else but me was loving it.

I absolutely agreed with your review Kristie! I'm not sure I want to waste my time with another almost 600 pages book. I'm in the same camp of not loving it and only finished it because I forced myself to.

message 50: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments I don't have any ideas yet! I've been wanting to read more mystery/thrillers though but I'm open to anything!
