Who else had a problem with Finnick dying, and how quickly they moved on?

Katniss barely even thought about Finnick after he died. Yes, there was a little, but not enough considering how good of a character Finnick was.

I wonder if it was intentional, with Katniss, and all of the rest being so desensitized by witnessing death being dished out in the arena.

Or maybe the idea behind it was that war gives you no time to breathe. After the dust settled and the war was over, the loss didn't feel as raw to Katniss anymore.

i completely agree. katniss, johanna, peeta, and him were pretty tight, especially because they had all been in the arena together and had a shared trauma. you would think they would care a little more or at least see annie distraught over it. i also kind of feel like his death was unnecessary, like I get it was to show that no one is safe and the capitol is evil or whatever but if you're gonna kill off a character do it right.

They didn't mention him enough at all. To be honest I forgot he died when I was wrapping up the book until it mentioned Annie.

i think his death was the right call. the entire point of killing a character is to emotionally move you! it was a huge success, seeing as there's now an entire group chat sympathizing over him.
however, i do wish they had mentioned him more. I cried so much over his death.

Agreed this made so mad

I was literally sobbing! And tbh I'm still in denial, because he was such a cutie pie why would Suzanne kill him in such a cruel way?!

oh they just built up a likable character over multiple books and then bam! he dies suddenly and stupidly.he should have gone out heroically

I know, one of the worst developments of the story :(

I honestly didn't think too much about it. I don't know if it's the books that I read, but most character deaths don't bother me that much. But I wasn't even sad he died; I think I knew there had to be a few deaths.

I love this series but this was one of the most frustrating parts of the book, I felt there was already so much death and so much going on that Finnick dying was just overlooked as a part of the chaos when in reality I as a reader wanted a more intimate moment if she wanted to kill him.

It was a war, from a character's perspective that was taught she had to be strong at all times because next thing she knew, she could die of hunger. I understand we loved Finnick, but consider the context. The entire point of that death is that a war gets lives, even those that don't deserve it and those that do.

How could they grieve a friend when the next one could be them? How could they cry if they had to plan how to survive a war they had little to no control over? How could they even feel entitled to cry when people on their own team were plotting to kill in cruel ways just like their enemy?

Yeah, his death was sad. But that was the entire point of the book. War is awful, and it's the main focus - specially for a girl trained and raised to be prepared for it.

Finnick was the hands dow absolute BEST character. When he died I almost actually cried. he was the only reason I read that book haha

and just after his wedding...

I agree he was a good guy.

I had a problem with it as well. He was my favourite character and i wish he would have been mentioned after his death more.
