What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

The girl finds residence in a small village where she uses an alias and covers the fact that she is a princess. Eventually, her sentry finds her and they fall in love. They're later attacked and he dies protecting her so she's left on her own.
In the other storyline, the prince deals with boring political stuff while fantasizing about his sister who is later revealed to not be his sister but rather a bastard child either by his father or mother so they're not related. He tries to kiss her at some point and she freaks out.
I'm not sure what the cover looks like but I remember it ended with the first princess returning home to her kingdom in the middle of a war and her castle in shambles. It's a series but I don't know how many books it contains.
