Jay, I moved this discussion topic to the Gathering Space. It is in the Gathering Space where everyone can post new discussions. The Gathering Space has a bunch of discussion threads going on all sorts of topics to which anyone can add.

The Short Reads thread is for group reads.

This is just a bit of housecleaning to keep things organized and no big deal.

Susan | 233 comments I found the book intriguing. I thought it brought up numerous good points. I think it is a very confusing time for many Catholics and I don't blame any one for asking questions, seeking answers. I do not think that makes one less Catholic. We are told repeatedly to avoid false teachers....that even the elect will be seriously tempted to be lost.. How else to know false teaching unless one stays engaged, studies, and discerns. What did you think of it Jay?

Susan | 233 comments Taylor Marshall interviewed Edmund Mazza today. Adds much information and explanation about Benedict and the resignation and the whole "synodality' concept... Neither Marshall nor Mazza agree with the Ratzinger Code.

On the topic of synodality, the Institute of Catholic Culture has a very good two part talk on "Orthodoxy and Synodality", which was published last year. I listened to it just this week. The presenter, Rev. Eric Bergman, delves into the distinction between Councils and Synods in the history of the Church and how the original function of synods have been misused in recent times.
