What book did you read with a pet character? Was it a main character?

The traveling cat cronicles by Hiro Arikawa is partially narrated by the cat. It is a very sad story.
I am a cat by Natsume Soseki is completely narrated by a pet cat. It is a satire. the cat is... less cat like the longer you read, though.

Just finished The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time about an autistic teen whose world is turned upside down. From his perspective so we are in his mind as he explains his troubles. He has a pet rat, Toby.

In January I read Taylor Jenkins Reid's MAYBE IN ANOTHER LIFE. A 4**** read for me.

I used A Dog Named Beautiful.
