This is the buddy read starting March 1, 2023 for book four in the Harry Potter series. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Please remember to use spoiler tags when necessary. Have a magical time and happy reading. :)

I will be joining in on this one as I haven't read the 4th book yet. :)

If you love GOF, you may like The Cursed Child. I listened to the full cast audiobook & it was Awesome! Good luck finding it though. I can't even find a GR entry.

It might be on here but it could be lost with the 180 editions they have listed on here for that book.

I'll be here for this one. During my original read of these, this one was my favorite book. When watching the movies, this is the one I usually stop at. The rest just break my heart so bad. The death of certain characters and the trials and struggles, I just stop here.

I have my trusty paperback copy.

I will probably be starting this later this week or over the weekend. I have too much going on now with book reading. :)

Thanks, Marie. That audiobook says it has only 1 narrator & the one I listened to was a full cast audiobook (not the stage play). To tell on myself, I torrented it back in the day, so I don't know if/how one would get ahold of it legitimately, maybe it's only available in the UK? It should totally have a GR page, though.

I'm planning to start this after my current read. Best guess is I'll be joining some time this coming weekend.

I saw this one in theaters. The excitement of the World Cup was so real. It was loud, flashy and so much fun. I think I had read the books by then but I’m not sure.

I started this earlier today. Just finished chapter 5. I can say this - the movie is "way" different then the book. There is lots more detail in the book and things that are happening in the book were not in the movie.

That was one of my movie disappointments. Goblet of Fire was my favorite book on my original read through of the series and I remember the movie skipping over most of the World Cup. I get it, it would've been too long. I was still annoyed!

I think I'm going to need to rewatch all the moves after we finish all the books :D

I also noticed that the movie cut out a lot of (view spoiler)[ the old man Frank when he went up into the tower. That whole conversation with Wormtail and Voldemort was not in the movie. We just saw a tiny bit of it in the movie. Some stuff was added to the movie it seems and some stuff was cut out as well. (hide spoiler)]

I love the movies so not seeing some stuff in them is really a bummer.

I'd forgotten about Winky. A lot of the Wizards are kinda arrogant...

I have not gotten started on this yet either, Marie. I should be starting in the next day or two. Just trying to clear my plate a bit before I return to Sci-fi and Fantasy :)

I've got a bit of fun for y'all. Consider the Forbidden (Dark) Forrest. In all but one of the books it is a place of transformation.

In the first book, Harry finds Voldemort attempting to transform from a shadow to a real boy by vampirizing unicorns.

In Chamber, Ron is forced to face his fears and transform into a better person.

In Prisoner, Lupin flees to the Forrest as a werewolf and presumably transforms back into a human there. More importantly, Harry realizes that it was not his father but himself who saves them, and casts his first Petronis. Harry transforms into a confident young man.

So in this book what is the transformation in the Forbidden Forrest?

In this volume, the forbidden forest is imported into the Hogwart's grounds where it serves as the final arena of the Triwizard championship - the ever-transforming maze...

I.e. The forest itself becomes both subject and object of transformation.

I am up to chapter 12 now, I never knew how much of this book was excluded from the movie until now... and I am still near the beginning of the book. Great start to the book though! :)

One of these days I'll get around to The Expanse. I've heard nothing but great things about it.

I've enjoyed it. I brings back the feelings I had reading sci-fi as a teenager. However, I needed a break after the 4th book. I plan to get back in with Nemesis Games.

Finally finished this massive tome... awesome story as usual.
