I don't expect this nomination to get much traction but it's a really interesting read and readable in small bursts -- she goes from one outrageous crime to the next. It's a romp. It's an old book but available on Kindle etc.
The Corpse Had a Familiar Face: Covering Miami, America's Hottest Beat

I'll second that one. I'm all about true crime and investigative journalism - this sounds like a combo of both.

Heh -- I work in law enforcement and my degree is in journalism, and I first read it in J-school at the University of Florida. You've pegged it exactly.

It's time to nominate non-fiction books for our second quarter 2023 NF group read. The nominations thread will be open through the 25th.
On February 26th, I'll put up a poll. The winner will be announced on March 15, which should give everyone who is interested some time to get the book if they are interested in starting it on April 1 (good grief we're talking about April already....).
Let the nominations begin!
