Play Book Tag discussion

Medical Examiner Maura Isles has been in love with Father Daniel Brophy, for several years. They both know it's wrong but they can't stop the relationship. While she is attending a forensics conference in Colorado she sees an old classmate. He's attractive and single. He's there with his daughter and two friends and invites Maura to join them in their mountain cabin for a snow skiing trip. When their SUV goes off the road in a snow storm they are stranded in freezing temperatures until they see a sign for a nearby community called Kingdom Come. When they get there all they find are twelve identical houses on a private road, with a car in each garage and food still on the tables.

Back in Boston, Father Daniel is worried because he hasn’t heard from Maura and she didn’t catch her flight home. He contacts Maura's friend Detective Jane Rizzoli of the Boston Police Department and Jane realizes something is seriously wrong. She soon receives news that Maura's charred remains have been found in the SUV. We know Maura isn't dead but Jane is devastated.

There are plenty of twists and turns along with interesting characters. I enjoyed the creepy suspense of what happened to the residents of Kingdom Come. Gerritsen does a great job of making this a very atmospheric read. Tanya Eby does an outstanding job of narrating the Audible edition. I'm definitely planning to continue the rest of the series.
