This is the buddy read for Nemesis Games by James S. A. Corey, Book #5 in The Expanse Series.

Goodreads Choice AwardNominee for Best Science Fiction (2015)
The fifth novel in Corey's New York Times bestselling Expanse series--now being produced for television by the SyFy Channel!

A thousand worlds have opened, and the greatest land rush in human history has begun. As wave after wave of colonists leave, the power structures of the old solar system begin to buckle.

Ships are disappearing without a trace. Private armies are being secretly formed. The sole remaining protomolecule sample is stolen. Terrorist attacks previously considered impossible bring the inner planets to their knees. The sins of the past are returning to exact a terrible price.

And as a new human order is struggling to be born in blood and fire, James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante must struggle to survive and get back to the only home they have left.

Enjoy! As always, use spoiler tags when necessary!

Terry | 453 comments Looking forward to this next installment. Hard to believe we're up to the midpoint now (well, midway through this one will be at least).

Ginger | 588 comments Awesome and thanks for setting this up Sally!

Yeah, it’s been great to read one a month! It’s keeping the momentum going and still manageable by getting to read other books in the month.

Same for me, Ginger This BR is definitely giving me motivation to get all the way through the series.

Graeme Rodaughan | 1263 comments I've got this one locked and loaded. It's been on my horizon for a while now.

Terry | 453 comments Excellent Graeme. Excited to see where this goes now.

Ginger | 588 comments Graeme wrote: "I've got this one locked and loaded. It's been on my horizon for a while now."

Great to hear that you can join!

Ginger | 588 comments I love having the rest of the Rocinante having their own POVs!
I have a feeling I’ll read this one much faster just because of that. 🙌

I think you're right, Ginger. BUT, (and don't read this until you get up to ch5) (view spoiler)

Terry | 453 comments What a difference it is reading this versus reading the Malazan book I'm reading along with it. With these Expanse books, I read for an hour and suddenly I'm 60 pages along. I read Toll the Hounds for that or even longer, and I've only covered 25-30 pages! Those books are so dense while the Expanse books just flow...

I know! It's so easy to get into the POVs and 50 pages later... hahaha

Totally agree! It's not a good feeling with this happening.

Terry | 453 comments At the end of ch9, was not expecting that!

Hahaha!! I felt the same when I watched the TV series.
I was floored. I love how it’s written in the book so much more. It’s a gut punch of a plot twist. 😃👍

It really was. I’m now up to the start of ch 20. (view spoiler)

Terry | 453 comments I’m up to ch41, about 100 pages left or so. I don’t see how all of this can get resolved in that few a pages!

I feel the same! I think some of what is going on in this book has to be resolved in book 6, Babylon's Ashes.

There's just so much going on in this one and it's hard to put down. I can’t figure out which POV that I'm more excited to get back to while I'm reading this. hahaha
It's not like in the past books in where one or two POVs were more exciting then the rest. In this one, they’re all good!

That’s great, Kristen! I agree with Ginger, I think you’ll like this one as well. It’s been great so far.

Graeme Rodaughan | 1263 comments Once I finish HP, Goblet of Fire, this is my next big book to read.

Terry | 453 comments Graeme wrote: "Once I finish HP, Goblet of Fire, this is my next big book to read."

Sounds good, Graeme. I just finished it and loved it.

Ginger | 588 comments Glad you loved this one Terry and I’m excited you’re about to start it Graeme!

Hello people!!! Do y'all want a thread for the 6th book for April? Or, whenever you get to it, lol!

Ginger | 588 comments Sally wrote: "Hello people!!! Do y'all want a thread for the 6th book for April? Or, whenever you get to it, lol!"

Sally, I’m definitely up for Babylon's Ashes next month!

Ginger | 588 comments Graeme wrote: "I'm in, but It'll be late April."

Graeme, I likely won’t start at the beginning of the month as well.
Too many books, too little time to read. 😂🤣

Kristen | 58 comments Sally wrote: "It's there now. Whenever you get ready!"

I just finished this one! This was my favorite in the series so far. I concur with the other comments, I loved that it was so focused on the crew of the Rocinante. (view spoiler)

I think there is another novella in between so I am going to read that then start the next. I will try and get a jump start as obviously I am a bit of a slow reader. Glad I’m finally caught up!

Terry | 453 comments Excellent Kristen, and I agree with everything you said there.

I'm so glad you loved this one too! It's my favorite so far too and I agree with everything you said in the spoilers.

Especially this one...
(view spoiler)I laughed every time they had any sort of interaction. LOL!!

Denis (deez_bookish_adventures) (denis_lamontagne) | 195 comments I got a late start on this due to March's schedule of "larger" books. I am up to chapter 13 now and cruising along nicely. I should finish up before the end of the month no problem, but will not get to the next book until the end of April....again. Large books slated for April.

Personally, I love Amos' journey in this more than the rest of the crew - but that was my take on the TV series as well, so perhaps I am a bit biased from that. Idk, but I love this series!!

I will check in as much as I can. Happy reading everyone!

I'm also biased with Amos too. He's my favorite of the Roci crew. I love the contradiction with his character in how he can be a (view spoiler)

I agree 100% - a monster and loveable all at the same time! lol

Graeme Rodaughan | 1263 comments I'm 30% in and loving this book. Zooming through it.

Graeme Rodaughan | 1263 comments At 37%. Can't help but notice that In Leviathan Wakes, it was the mystery of the missing heiress, in this book, it's the mystery of the missing ships in multiple flavours (Gates swallowing them whole, or humans stealing them for nefarious purposes). In both cases, it is the mystery that is drawing the characters forward, and the readers along with them.

Graeme Rodaughan | 1263 comments 56% in, Ch 28. and the proverbial has officially hit the fan.

Gripping stuff, and hard to put down.

Terry | 453 comments It is definitely hard to put down. So much fun!

And this one is not a re-read for you, right?

Graeme Rodaughan | 1263 comments Yes. For the first time. 😁

Terry | 453 comments Nice! Uncharted territory is the best.

Graeme Rodaughan | 1263 comments Indeed it is - esp' when it's this good.
