Yes, please. And change the name of the folder.

Elizabeth (Alaska) The name of the folder *was* changed. It used to say

[Archived] Adding New Books & Editions

and now it says

[Archived] Added Books/Editions

but apparently people are no longer taught past tense. (And why I am sort of careful about reading books originally published in the 21st century and by authors Independently Published.)

I notice that the majority of the people still posting in this folder are not native English speakers. The mods could/should take that into account.

I don't see how [Archived] is so difficult, but I speak only one language, so perhaps that is terribly unfair. Maybe the name of the correct folder is the one to be changed:

Post Adding Books Requests

or something along those lines.

I think also part of the problem is that people decide they already know what is what and don't bother to read pinned posts by moderators.

and

Closed

The Mod could add a sticky post explaining the Closed folder, Or not, since presumably only the Mods would be moving posts to that folder.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Oh, yes! Closed is much better than archived.

Or not. I don't see why users couldn't move their request to this folder at the same time they're adding 'done' to the topic title.

Yes please.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Moderators could close this folder so that no one can make a new post in it. The original poster can still change the folder in their thread.

?? This thread is in the right folder. What we need is for the mods to make it a sticky and/or change the name of the folder (preferably both). If they make this thread a sticky, they can close it.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments I think Elizabeth is refering to your "users could move their thread to this folder themselves" mentioning that would also still be possible if mods lock this folder (so that no new threads could be started in it).

So then there would not be a reason to not lock this folder to prevent new postings actually.

message 19: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16359 comments Ah, sorry! I thought Elizabeth meant "close this thread" ☺️

I didn't know folders can be locked? And are you sure that people can then still move their threads there?

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments me neither but didn't the libriarian group have this folder in the past where two locked threads were about some no longer maintained lists (one with languages librarians were speaking) - was sure I saw that last week but did not now... and I think that was a folder with a lock symbol

(also the quizzes and genres folder seem gone)

Folders can't be locked.

What the ... I scrolled through the forum 3 times and did not see them - weird.

but seems there is no "lock" symbol for the view only-section.
But mentioning view only could help the "archive" may be also?

From the Group Homepage: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
Select one of these:
- Discussion Board (above "General"; it is a link)
- "All" in "topics: all | new | unread"
- Scroll down to the bottom, just above "Friends in this Group and choose "More discussions"

Any of these leads to this page, which includes all Librarian Group folders: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/list_...

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments Thanks Arenda - learnt something new now.
And never would have thought of "discussion board" being a link O.O

Elizabeth (Alaska) lethe wrote: "I didn't know folders can be locked? And are you sure that people can then still move their threads there?"

Duh ...

I was thinking wrong - and also I thought I deleted my remarks and didn't even post that. I must have gotten interrupted. My bad.

BUT YES, posters can move their threads to this folder rather than just mark them Done.

I click Discussions on the right side and use my browser's find feature to get to the folder I want.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Look! The [Archived] has been replaced with [Closed].

I hope this helps eliminate the confusion by those requesting to add new books.

And this thread has been made a sticky! Thanks, mods :)
