Linda Mackenzie | 2 comments Maybe you haven't heard but Amazon is now limiting reviews for self published books and books made available on Amazon through book publishers... Per my personal communication with Amazon -- there is a moratorium on reviews after a certain number and there is no date, if any, if more reviews can be posted to your book page. Per my friend who is an author from a medium size press, she said the only ones able to continue to get continuous reviews are entertainers or top public figures -- don't know if that is true since I did not personally research this but she is from a mid-size reputable publisher and a radio host and Amazon allowed her 4...I am self published and complained to Amazon, as did my reviewers, and they have limited me to 6. Scott Most reviews on Amazon these days are of the "book arrived in good condition" variety anyway.

Perhaps Amazon is pushing back against the number of book reviews posted by friends, relatives and other close contacts of authors? Personally, I take the validity of Amazon reviews of any self-published books with a grain of salt unless I see they're posted by an accredited book reviewer.

Linda Mackenzie | 2 comments That is true...but some of the reviews that were not allowed to be posted were from people who bought the book that I did not know. I have many book endorsements from Bernie Siegel, MD and other top authors and just today got a review published in Publishers Weekly plus I have a loyal 27 year radio audience so I am not worried about me. The 6 reviews I received should give people a good idea about the book. I do worry about newbie authors without a following where the reviews may be important.

Sounds like you have a genuine complaint Linda. As an indie author I certainly sympathise. A book can (and usually does) stand or fall on nos. of reviews and especially nos. of good reviews it gets. I'd be interested to know what the answer is...
