As Evan prepares to end Van Sciver, he sees Joey in distress as she’s bleeding out. He has to choose between the two and he chose Joey. Was there really a choice for him?

It wasn't a choice for Evan. He would never have left Joey lay there and die if there was a chance he could help her.

My only thought was how long would it take to put a bullet between Van Sciver's eyes and then run to Joey? He was right there.

Evan is slowly becoming more human so its a no brainer that he would choose Joey. He is taking the role of the guardianship of Joey very seriously.
