Sophia tries to explain to Dave why she decided to enter into a relationship with him, not knowing just how deadly skilled he is as an operative. Was she really looking for someone “not Decker” or was she, deep down, already a little bit in love with Dave?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments Just like she was in denial about her feelings for Dave, she was in denial about his true and deadly nature. One would think that knowing he was once a CIA operative AND was hired by Tom (who does not hire lazy bums) would have clued her in that he wasn't exactly a Teddy bear.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I wondered just what she thought Dave did for the CIA? He may have been going through a rough time until Tracy cleaned him up, but he was a top operative and Tom recruited him for that. Sophia may have wanted "safe" but deep down she had lived a live full of danger and adventure and "safe" would have been boring.

I’m also thinking Sophia was in denial about everything all things Dave. He comes across as mild mannered but his work history and level of respect from colleagues tell a different story. Sophia just never explored the man, was just content that he was taking care of her emotionally.

Deep down, she loved this man even if she thought it was built on a false foundation. Maybe she was looking for “not Decker” initially (which I don’t really believe) but she fell in love with Dave the man, not Dave from Troubleshooters or the CIA.

Agreed. She fell in love with Dave, her best friend, without paying attention to the details of who he really is.
