The Ending...or Lack there of
Christina Christina Mar 07, 2023 08:11AM
Just finished Our Missing Hearts. While I loved the story and the characters, the ending left me wanting more. Even a few pages!

I often compare it to the end of The Handmaid's Tale. I loved both books, but their endings used the same unsatisfying style.

I loved the ending - hope and the unknown, they must go together!

I think the ending was intended as a tribute to the connection between a written testament to a person and actually keeping the memory of that person alive. Isn’t that what Margaret was doing recording memories of the missing children? Domi and Bird would keep Margaret ‘s memory alive by recreating some of the lines she had written.

I'm actually glad I didn't take other people's reviews of this book to heart because I thought it was a well written book and finished it in five days. I also did not think the ending was bad at all.

I wasn't fond of the ending at all. But then, I'm not a fan of "hope" because its very meaning stems from fear, loss, negativity. IMHO
