According to Dylan, Stephanie killed Oscar, his mother and Jim Rogers. She supposedly killed them because of Oscar’s bullying her brother to suicide and his mother’s refusal to sell her property to help bail out the family financially. Do you believe him? Is she really as much of a sociopath as it seems? What should happen to Dylan despite any deal he gets for information on the Hudson Footmen?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I did believe his story about Stephanie killing Oscar, Camilla Brown, and Jim Rogers. I think she was using Dylan as a pawn in her game of revenge.

Dylan was in on the murders of Oscar and his mother. He even tied them up for Stephanie. If he gives the cops information about Stephanie and about the Hudson Footmen, he may be able to avoid the death penalty, though it is rare in New York.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments Yes, this explanation made sense to me and fit in with the killer's (Stephanie's) anger in the prologue.

That said, I have a feeling that Oscar did not limit his bullying and cruelty to Robby. It would not surprise me if he was also harassing and perhaps even sexually abusing Stephanie when they were younger. Her rage was very personal and is not entirely explained by her brother's death.

Dylan needs to go to prison for a long, long time. I wonder if the militia won't find a way to get to him.
