What shall we read this May of 2023? Up to two nominations of weird fiction per member welcomed, works with <200,000 GoodReads ratings. Poll to run mid-April.

I would like to nominate Women of the Wood by A. Merritt. The ISBN (needed to distinguish the specific book I am nominating) is 9781720784111 and can be searched on in GoodReads by that number alone if you wish to. Included are Merritt's four best stories: "The Women of the Wood," "The Drone," "The People of the Pit," and "The Moon Pool."It is the latter story Lovecraft seems to have loved best and which looks to me like it might have served as an (at least partial) inspiration for his Cthulhu mythos. "I was extremely glad to meet Merritt in person, for I have admired his work for 15 years.... He has a peculiar power of working up an atmosphere and investing a region with an aura of unholy dread" H.P. Lovecraft's letter to R. H. Barlow (January 13, 1934)
The Other Side by Alfred Kubin came close last poll and I'd really like to read this classic continental European weird fiction book at some point. So I'll nominate it again.
