They are a resource, offer protection to the soil, and are the home to many creatures, among other things. First celebrated in 1872 in Nebraska, this holiday encourages people to celebrate trees by planting one.
🌲 Read a book with a tree or the color green on the cover. You can also read a book set in Nebraska, or a book where a character goes for a walk or hike in a park or the woods. You can also read a book where a character gardens, or is a gardener, florist, botanist, or does something positive for the environment (your interpretation).
8. National Library Week: Celebrated from April 23–29 this year, National Library Week honors the importance of libraries to the communities that surround them. Libraries go beyond lending books, giving patrons space to meet, access to items such as movies or instruments, and a place for educators to encourage their students to expand their horizons.
🌲 Read a book that you have borrowed from a library or some other source (friend, family, Kindle Unlimited, etc). You can also read a book that was recommended to you, or a book that features an educational or library setting. Additionally, you can read a book that is part of a series, in honor of this year’s National Library Week theme, “There’s More to the Story.”
9. National Humor Month: For a month that kicks off with April Fools Day, it’s only natural that humor is celebrated throughout April. Laughter is considered good for overall health, relieving pain and stress, and humor is a wonderful way to connect with friends and loved ones.
🌲 Read a book that is categorized in a humor category on Goodreads (such as comedy, humor, romantic comedy, etc). You can also read a book with bright colors on the cover, or with cover art that you find humorous or features a person that is smiling or laughing. You can also read a book featuring a character who you find witty or funny, or one where the characters do something fun.
10. Reader's Choice: 🌲 Read any book of your choice.
