Theo accepts an invitation from Michelle’s Big Daddy Jake to come down to the bayou and do a bit of fishing. When he arrives in Bowen, La., Theo’s mistaken for the new high school football coach. Share your thoughts on these hilarious scenes. What purpose do they play in this story?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Big Daddy meets Theo, the driven FBI agent, and sees a man in need of some down time and maybe he also sees a man worthy of his daughter. When Theo arrives and the whole town mistakes him for the new football coach, Theo sees a community that is so accepting and warm he is drawn to these people.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I loved the football scenes. No matter how many times Theo tried to explain that he wasn't there for the coaching job, no one was listening. It was just easier to go along with it and help out the team.

I loved these scenes so much!! They were funny and heartwarming at the same time! I began to wonder if they were that clueless (that he really wasn't a coach) or just that determined to draw him into their fold and "make" him their coach. These are some of my favorite scenes in the book.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I think it was a little of both!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree these were some great things. It is typical small town mentality to get something in their head and not let it drop. Bowen needed a coach to help them win, Theo was the solution. It doesn't make sense that Jake would invite him for any other reason.
