The Reality Dysfunction
question
Recent space opera recommendations?

I’m a huge fan of Peter F. Hamilton, and Walter Jon Williams. with this in mind, can anyone recommend a recent book in the genre? Warning, I’m not interested in contemporary political ideology, rather a good story that entertains not lectures.

Try "To Sleep in a Sea of Stars" by Christopher Paolini. It's not as woke as most modern science fiction. Even the few woke parts aren't preachy. The author is best-known for YA, and this book is his first foray into science fiction. The book has all the good stuff -- space combat, hostile aliens, FTL travel, etc. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to the prequel.
