This started a bit slow, but it picked up. Still, it is not my favorite in the series.
28. A Most Inconvenient Death Donna Fletcher Crow This series incorporates true Victorian crimes with recurring fictional characters who follow and/or help in their solution. This first was not the best book I have read by this author, but as I have enjoyed other books she has written, and it wasn't terrible either, I intend to continue.
29. The Tuesday Club Murders Agatha Christie I am trying to slip in an Agatha Christie read/reread in publication order on occasion. This collection of short stories features Miss Marple. She seems a bit milder in the short stories than I remember her from the books, but I shall see when I get to more of the Miss Marple novels if I am remembering them, or movies and adaptations I have seen.
30. Grave Matters Donna Fletcher Crow Second in the series related to true Victorian crimes. I felt she did better with this one--at least I enjoyed it more and felt it held together better. Although I had to smile at her using the character of the manservant to fit in stories that had come up in her research that didn't fit into the main narrative.
31. Pride, Prejudice, and Cheese Grits Mary Jane Hathaway It took me a while to get into this (I may even have rolled my eyes a bit), but by the end I stayed up too late to finish. Not my best read of the year by a long shot, but once it got my attention, I needed to find out what happened and how.
32.Prester John John Buchan Not, as the title would seem to imply, about Prester John, except as remote historical background. It was an exciting adventure story, but does reflect attitudes of colonialism and racism--slightly mitigated in the main character, but still very strong.
33. Faith Among the Faithless: Learning from Esther How to Live in a World Gone Mad Mike Cosper Good, but not great. It did give me a few things to think about regarding the story of Esther, but I felt it was a bit weak on the application side of each chapter.

Sheri | 20 comments 34. Nightfall in the Garden of Deep TimeTracy L. Higley Good, but not great. It could have been more concise, I felt.

35. Postmortem Patricia Cornwell Good writing and good story, but it is a little dated by now. This is the first in a three-volume omnibus, so I will at least read the next two before too long.

36. Body of Evidence Patricia Cornwell See above. This one was even more intense. I wonder if our heroine will be attacked in every book, and if so, if it will get old. But I'm still interested so far.

And just like that, it's on to the next mountain!
