Great to meet you both.
Looking forward to Bingo....my favorite challenge...
First off I would prefer not to be captain this round. I am moving first week of May. We sold our house and bought a condo. Downsizing so lots to do.
Team names
Three Amigos
Terrific Trio
Mint to be Three
Triple Pack
Snap Crackle Pop
Sun Moon Stars

I am thinking either starting Jane Yellowrock series or Incryptid series
Have either of you read those series?

Good luck with it!

She's so looking forward to not having to go up & down the "evil" stairs. She broke her leg on them 6 mths ago, and various kids have broken something/come to grief on them too.
She's still working but mostly from home, only needs to teach face to face 1 day a week and go to the Uni for the odd meeting etc.
ETA: I love retirement!!!!

looking forward to much less stress and more time for travel and hobbies

Brain freeze right now on any possible team names, we'll see what Stacey has to say once she checks in

I'd rather not be captain as I just finished captaining another challenge, but I can do it Lekeisha if you would rather not.
I'm still a little up in the air on my Free Space, but leaning towards Heir of Fire as I'm late to the SJM party and working my way through that series. I saw it on the shelves the other day. I have not read either of those series Rosina -- although Jane Yellowrock stares at me from my TBR on a daily basis. :)

Title/Author: Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper by J.L. Bryan
Series: Ellie Jordan Ghost Trapper #1
Date Read: 5/3/2023
Shelf: Detective(s)
Location: page 6 of Paranormal Detective
Pages: 220
Rating: ★★★★
Review: Surpriseingly I really enjoyed this story. I was expecting a cozy mystery but it had more to it. I liked the science details on how to trap ghosts. The story is about Ellie Jordan who works in a ghost trapping agency. They go into haunted homes and remove the apparitions or help them move on to the afterlife. Ellis is saddled with a new employee, who she is not happy about. The home they are going in to remove the ghost has been bought by a couple who want to turn it into a B&B. The house is in Savannah and they have moved from Chicago. Their daughter Lexa first encounters the ghost and her father is a skeptic.
The story is well paced and the characters are likable. Will continue with the series.

DETECTIVE SHELF 1
READ: DARK BY KAT KINNEY, 050423, 2.5 STARS
REVIEW: This is a 2.5 read for me.
It took me a while to be able to get into the story. It was hard several times to decipher who was doing the speaking between the two main characters and there were flashbacks that didn't help. This wasn't a smooth read at all. The story just seemed all over the place, there wasn't any real character growth and I still have questions that weren't answered. It wasn't completely horrible, but I just couldn't connect with any character and am not really interested in continuing the series to see if it gets better.

Week #2
Shelf: May Day
Book: A Good Girl's Guide to Murder
Completed: 5/8/23
How it Fits: Published May 2, 2019
Rating: 3 stars
Review: I would love to give this 3.5 stars, but Goodreads... I liked the mystery, and I thought it was unraveled in just the right amounts. There was good action, and for the most part likeable characters you wanted to root for. My main issue was the MC got a little too...righteous at times. She was supposed to be a HS senior, but felt she was smarter than everyone -- especially the adults. It was a little too over the top. Also, a good rule of thumb is not to confront the suspected killer (an adult man) alone, but what do I know....

Shelf: 1. Detective
Book: Stealing Shadows
Completed: 5/11/23
How it Fits: Page 2 of the link
Rating: 4 stars
Review: This was a little old school as its been out for a while, but it was entertaining with a few twists that made it difficult to figure out who the killer was. I do enjoy a little psychic with my mysteries though. I will probably add this to my endless lists of series to continue.

Shelf #3 ~ 11 May: Cozy Mystery

Week: 2
Shelf: May Day
Book: The Hunting Wives
How it Fits: author name May Cobb
Rating: 3 stars
Read: May 12 2023
Review:
I went into this book blind (didnt read the blurb). There were some parts of the story line that really didnt sit well with me, and they werent mentioned in the blurb. (view spoiler)
It is a soap opera read. A bunch of rich women bored with their husbands and their lifes doing reckless things. Sophie wants to be included in the club. Shes the new girl in town. Then half way through a teenage girl is murdered and then the story takes off.
The story itself is well written and told quite well. The twist at the end I didnt see coming. The suspense and trying to solve the murder mystery was quite good.

MAY DAY SHELF 2
READ: Wall ST Jerk by Megan Wade, 4 stars, 050823
REVIEW:
This was a fun, quick read. Grumpy boss plus smart, quirky employee equals happily ever after. Becca is assigned as Ronan's new assistant. He is known for being a jerk and firing assistants for the most minor things. Becca is able to bring down his walls by being good at her job, helping to elevate her team members and by knitting. Roman is infatuated with her but doesn't act on his feelings until he believes someone else is trying to steal her away. Good writing, good characters, good chemistry, light drama/angst. I liked this author's writing style and will continue the series.

READ: Dragon Actually, by G.A. Aiken, 051823, 4 stars
REVIEW:
I loved this book. I was sucked right in and can't wait to continue the series. It is actually two stories in one. Both are great stories with great writing, great world building and great characters. The first is Annwyl and Fearghus' story. I loved Annwyl and Fearghus' connection and chemistry. They were well written and well matched. Both are strong and fierce. Loved the drama, the fun and the sexy times.
The second story is about Fearghus' parents. It is just as great as the first story. Secondary characters also introduce us to Fearghus' family. Looking forward to the reading the next book

So you'll have to wait for the stamp Lekeisha, sorry.

Shelf: Free Space
Book: Kings of the Wyld
Completed: 5/19/23
How it Fits: Found on SOS bookshelf
Rating: 3 stars
Review: This is not a book I would normally pick up -- tbh I had never heard of it until it came up as a BOM in another group -- but it was fun! It was a mash up of everything fantasy, with no apparent rhyme or reason, so it didn't take itself too seriously. The road trip/quest went on a bit too long, but for the most part it was entertaining.

So you'll have to wait for the stamp Lekeisha, sorry."
