Mick Callahan gets in Alyssa’s face at first sight, being rude, dismissive and sexist. He further ignites the situation by talking about her in the most derogatory terms to Sam, not knowing of their relationship. Things escalate to the point where he draws a gun on Sam and cracks his ribs, kicking him on the floor. What do you think would have happened if his whole conversation hadn’t been captured on Sam’s voice mail message to Jules? How did Maria and Jenn overlook his misogyny and why is Jenn willing to continue doing so? Should they have filed charges against him?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1801 comments Sam should have filed charges immediately. Abuse of power and authority is what is destroying people's faith in the police.

Even if the conversation had not been recorded, I believe that Mick would have been suspended. Sam is a white man and a former Navy SEAL. The power that be would believe his claims.

As to Maria and Jenn's willingness to overlook his misogyny, I can only say that some women get stupid around a charming man.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Mick was a really stupid man. Alyssia was Sam's boss and talk like that by anyone against a team member would not have been tolerated. Sam sure wasn't going to take that kind of talk against Alyssa. I was sacred that he was actually going to shoot Sam. I was so glad that Jules heard everything and that it was recorded.

I can understand why Maria and Jenn would be inclined to believe Mick. They have a relationship with him and they like him. They don't know Sam. Charges should have been filed, but the Team needed to cooperation of the NYPD and doing that would not have helped them protect Maria and Jenn.

Just to clarify, Maria was more neutral until Mick kicked Sam and she immediately wanted him gone. Up to that point, she’d kept him at arm’s length because he was trying to sleep with her. No love lost there on her part.

I found it deeply troublesome that Jenn remains sympathetic to Mick. It says a lot about her judgment about men, including being so charmed by Dan Gillman from the start.

Lauren, you make a good point about Sam but he was on Mick’s turf so it wouldn’t be easy to turn the tables on him. I feel confident that between Jules & Maria, they would have handled the matter but not before Sam spent the night in jail.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Great point about Jenn, Jonetta. Looking for love in all the wrong places??? I didn't think that Jenn was that needy, but I could have been wrong.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9264 comments Mod
She didn’t come across as needy so much but she accepted crumbs from flawed men because she didn’t have a high opinion of herself in terms of being attractive to men.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1801 comments I agree that Jenn's perception of her attractiveness lowered her guard when it came to Mick. Of course, her guard was also low for Dan, who might be in insensitive jerk but his attraction to Jenn was real.
