In Dan’s musings about Jenn’s looks, he thought the following: “ She was actually kind of pretty, in a supersized way. Not that she was fat. She was just… sturdy. Strapping. Statuesque.” Your thoughts? Are they derogatory or just honest?

OMG! Dan can be such a jerk.

While these descriptions are not at all derogatory, the attitude and tone are what makes them suspect. Dan was definitely not being complimentary when he originally had these thoughts.

Jenn is pretty, she is just larger than society thinks a woman should be. Dan is looking at her and seeing that she is a pretty woman and larger than the type (Sophia & Maria) he goes for. He is evaluating her. I don't think he intends to be derogatory.

My feelings about Dan’s attitudes towards women are no secret. He trades on his good looks and thinks he’s always got the upper hand. Just because he decides he wants a woman, therefore it will be so (remember how he wouldn’t take “no” from Sophia and still can’t understand why she chose Dave).

His attitude is what turns me off. It’s not his intention to be derogatory but he is and doesn’t know it because he never listens. I read these comments and loathed him.

This! He does not listen to women - not Sophia, not Eden and not Jenn. She had to shut him down hard before he would understand that she was not going to spend the rest of his leave with him.

Great point! It was her only way of getting his attention.
