Dan is experiencing blackouts from the head injury he sustained in Afghanistan but is hiding that information, though Lopez is aware of them. Given his assignments, wasn’t he obligated to report them? What should Sam and Jay Lopez do?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments Dan has suffered a trauma and Sam and Lopez were waiting it out, Reporting it could have meant the end of his career, so I could understand their reluctance to report it.

Moreover, he was not on active duty and I am sure neither Sam nor Lopex would have hesitated to report it if they thought he was a danger to his team.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I get the wanting to wait it out, but other lives are in danger because Dan is not fit for duty. I get that this is not a combat situation, but the Team is depending on Dan to be functional. I don't think he would have gone to New York if the true situation there was known before they left. He's there and Sam and Jay decided to work with it.

You both make great points I hadn’t considered. This bothered me and these points of view make reasonable sense. It felt irresponsible but I can see how they were mitigating the risk.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments This was not supposed to be a dangerous assignment. It was just updating security and train people in self-defense and situational awareness. It wasn't supposed to be dangerous.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Anita makes a good point. The guys were there to train civilians in self-defense. No one expected there to be a killer leaving body parts in a desk drawer. That's when it became a bodyguard situation. Dan was already there working with the guys. They realized he was having problems but decided to keep an eye on him to see how things went.

Great points! The assignment changed after they got there.
