Bree learned about how to handle deadly venomous snake bites when they encountered the rattlesnake at the Julius Northcott crime scene. Do you think that helped save Matt’s life when he was bitten at Adam’s house?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments They were several miles away from the nearest hospital. I think Matt survived because of two things. Bree knew that Matt should stay calm and not exert himself. She also learned that they shouldn't cut at the wound or try to suck the venom out like they used to do on TV shows when I was a kid (blech!).

I think the other thing that saved him was the fact that the snake bit Rhys before it bit Matt. He probably didn't get a full dose of venom.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I believed it helped Bree remain calm. If she had pushed Matt to get to the car instead of waiting for the EMTs, I think his chances of survival would be less. I agree that it helped that the snake bit Matt so soon after Rhys minimized the amount of venom.

I agree with you both about the does being less because it had bitten Rhys first. That bite experience at the Northcott crime scene informed Bree to help make good decisions for Matt. Adrenalin makes that venom speed faster through the body’s system and Rhys never stood a chance after all that exertion.

All of this helped to save Matt.

We all watched venom being sucked out of people’s bodies on TV back in the day! Look at how long it’s taken to correct that stupid practice.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments Yes, Matt was lucky because Bree knew what to do and he did not get a large dose because Rhys was bitten first.

I read another book about not sucking the venom out... I can't remember which one it was though...
