For Adam’s birthday, Bree and the kids got him a horse as a present. Matt tagged along and got one for himself, too. Both his and her families joined for the celebration and Kayla named the horses. What do you make of how far the Taggerts have come since Erin’s death? Your thoughts about what’s the most remarkable?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I think the most remarkable thing is Bree dropping her old life to move to New York and take care of her niece and nephew. She has changed so much from the first book in the series. Now she has a family, friends, and a serious relationship with the man in her life. That is a lot of change in one year.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I loved how everyone has a horse so they can ride together. It was sweet that no one objected to Kayla naming the horses. They all love her so much. Most remarkable to me is seeing how much Matt's family blends in with this group. The kids can have grandparent figures in their life who are good role models. Hopefully at some point it will be official.

I love what you both described! I hadn’t thought about the impact of Matt’s family on the children.

Bree’s moving to New York and having Dana retire and come with her changed all of their lives. They created a new family, one none of them had ever experienced, out of tragedy. The kids have a new path to recovery and those horses are added therapy. They made the best out of awful circumstances.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments There is a wonderful sense of family between Matt's and Bree's families including Dana and Todd.

I am so glad that Matt bought Beast - I was worried about him for a minute at the auction.
