There’s little doubt Shields is a scumbag, but was he ever a viable suspect in the later attempts on Regan’s life in your opinion? Did you consider him a real threat to Regan or her two friends? Why or why not?

He was not a suspect for me. But his bodyguard was suspicious with the way he was checking Regan out. I don't think there was a threat to Regan or her friends. I don't murder is his thing, but I wouldn't put strong arm tactics past him or the bodyguards.

I don't think Shields even noticed Regan. He seemed interested in Sophie, but ended up standing her up when they were supposed to meet the next day.

Yes, Sophie was definitely on his radar. I was surprised when he didn't pursue her.

Did we ever find out why Shields and his bodyguards left town so quickly? At first I thought he was getting heat about Mary Connelly, but since the cops weren't even investigating, I gave up on that theory.

Shields was never a suspect and he was no threat to Regan or her friends because she knew he was a con man so she wouldn't be taken in by him. There were some loose ends where Shields was concerned and I think he was thrown into the story, in part, to keep us guessing.

Shields ended up being a red herring for me. I wondered at first, but soon dismissed him as a con artist. I do think his thread could have been more developed in the scope of the story. There are some loose ends there.

I never suspected Shields as the person after Regan. I did wonder about the bodyguard though. At first I thought the bodyguard was Edgar, but Regan is one of those women who turns men's heads.

No, there was no way Shields was ever a threat for Regan.Too far detached from the main plot.
