May 2023 Monthly Challenge – RUN FOR THE ROSES

I always look forward to the Kentucky Derby (and the rest of the Triple Crown races) each year. This month’s challenge is inspired by the “Run for the Roses.”

* Read a book with a horse shown on the cover. (Post the cover image.)

* Read a book whose author’s first and last initials are in the phrase: RUN FOR THE ROSES. (Middle initials, if used can be ignored. Initials may be used only so often as they appear in the target phrase.)

* Read a book where the first letter of each title word is found in : TRIPLE CROWN (2-word minimum title; all words count. Letters may be used only so often as they appear in the target phrase.)

* The states with the most horse races are: Kentucky, New York and California. Read a book set primarily in one of these states.

* Attendees at the Derby are known for their hats! Read a book with a hat on the COVER. (Post the cover image.)

RULES OF THE CHALLENGE

All books used must be a minimum of 100 pages long - Page length determined by HARDCOVER 1st edition. If there is no Hardcover, then the most popular paperback governs page #.

You may read in any format - text, audio or e-book.

You MUST finish the book before you can claim credit for completing a task.

A book may be used for only one task, even if it would satisfy the challenge for multiple tasks.
