May Subdue the Shelf Roll Requests

I'm ready for my next roll (1) please.

The book you swap to -- i.e. I swapped in The Lions of Fifth Avenue for Pearls and Peril -- has to be a book you are not currently reading or left as a DNF prior to swapping, correct? Or, if you pick up a DNF or a book you're already reading (or listening if audio), you have to start over?
I tend to have a couple books going at the same time, with one only a few pages in. I have started Lions of Fifth Avenue over - I was only a chapter into it - but I wanted to check before I read further in case I needed to pick a different swap.

Hopefully I am understanding the nuances in this question, but if you returned to a book and started it over, then that's totally fine. It's not a problem that you set it aside earlier after one chapter so long as you are re-reading it from the start.

Lucky with the #15. Remind me when you complete the book that the randomizer is going to be moving you.

Theresa, are you thinking of my Swap to The Bandit Queens? My DNF intention lasted only as long as it took to eat dinner. It turned out to be quite good, and I kept it as my swap. (The wine with dinner might have helped me to be less critical.)😊

Will do.

I'm going to read Memory and Dream (400 pages) instead of The Master and Margarita (372 pages).
I'm part way into The Master and Margarita and while I'm usually all in for satire/weird, I'm not in the right frame of mind for giant cats, retellings of Pontius Pilot or deals with the devil.
I'll note the swap on my board.

I'm thinking I need to drop several challenges ... spending more time updating my challenge posts than actually reading ....

You can claim the participation points. That rule only says you need to read a book that fits the tag.
What you cannot do is swap for a tagged book and then ask for additional dice to be rolled based on the number of taggers (porter level and higher). The rule for this says you must LAND on the book.

Haha, Tessa-I have been thinking the same!

@Rachel N - that is awful. I have smelled cigarette smoke and mild/mildew on books. Those can be addressed with sun and dryer sheets and time (not that you should have to do that for a library book). When you return it in a ziploc bag you should tell them the problem because they need to replace the book.
You do win the prize for most unusual reason to use a swap!
@Sue - definitely need to be in right mindset for the satire in the Bulgakov. BTW, Murakami's Kafka on the Shore reminded me of The Master and Margarita without the Christian religion overtones. And of course much longer.
@Anita - a good reminder that I have a new set of rules to master once out of Clerk. I have barely mastered Clerk...

I had a hard time with this book too. I appreciated the social commentary in the book, but I was put of by the other excesses.

I am however announcing that my Wicked 11 Ticket to Porter Book will be Atomic Anna, which is not on my shelf but is on Heather Reads Books at like #67. Because I am reading that anyway for my local book club, where I hope the author can join us. I am thrilled that I found it on Heather's gameboard, so its not an extra book for me.

Excellent plotting! I'd have done the same.

Thanks for clarifying, Anita. Guess I'll have to be extra careful when (IF) I make it to porter level ...

I have several small rewards to 'move ahead 1 space' (or 2 spaces) 'when you want.' Sometimes I wish I could go backward 1 or 2 spots instead.

Thank you for catching that!!

Regardless of the answer, WooHOO! I'm in the Royal Coach!

The points are fungible, so you can really just make a note that you spent three points!

My intent was that you would use it when you rolled it, but honestly I don't think it makes a big difference if you prefer to save it for the future. Your call!

OK, I'm using them right now! My tracking shows this - JoAnne let me know if it isn't clear. I also added a line to my points monitoring that I spent 3 points.
This gets me to a regency romance and I've really been in the mood to read one for 2 or 3 days -- once I only have 100 pages or less left on my Feminerdy read for Sunday, I'm starting it! (Feminerdy read is funand good. I'm just more in the mood for regency romance, not alternative modern day witches and their battles).

Thank you! I've got a messenger delivering one of my tiaras to wear while there. He'd better show up with this one:

which coordinates the kimono I just was handed by the wardrobe attendant:

And the tiara is a very nice touch!

If you roll:
1-1: The current leader must move back 3 spaces on their game board and read the book where they have landed next.
Any combination totaling 7: You move 7 spaces and stay on that space, but you may read the book you land on OR one book forward or one book back - - your choice.
6-6: Don't like the book you will land on? You may roll again.
3-1: You get to take pick someone's next move on the board. The admins will use random.org to decide who will be moved. You get to decide which book they must move to next on their game board - - backward or forward -- within a 15 book radius. So you can move your opponent up to 15 spaces back or up to 15 spaces forward to the book of your choosing. Should you be reluctant to move another player ,or if you do not respond to an administrator's request to designate the move, random.org will move the player - odd rolls will move the player backward and even rolls will move the player forward.
2-1: You may use up to 3 of your participation points to move yourself ahead up to 3 spaces.
6-5: You must read a book that's on someone else's board and NOT on your own before you may roll again. (extra note here: you may read the book you land on first and then read the other person's book, or vice-versa. So two books must be completed before you re-roll).
4-4: Receive 4 participation points for the next book you read/review.
2-3 Get an extra "swap" that you may use anytime during the game.
6-4 Earn a surprise advantage to use anytime during the game
