Here are some ideas on how you might accomplish this goal:

1) Look at a certain number of books on your To-Read shelf each day. Maybe 10? If you can't remember why you put a book on your TBR list and it doesn't sound particularly interesting now, remove it.

2) Read the first chapter of a book that is still on your TBR list that managed to survive Idea #1. If it doesn't capture your interest, delete it.

3) Are you brave enough to do this one? Sort your TBR list by 'Rating'. Remove any book that has an average rating under a certain number (perhaps 2.50?). The probability that the book is any good is low.

4) If the book is not available through your library, or you can't borrow it from a friend, and you aren't willing to spend money to buy it, delete it.

5) Go ahead and read any books, short stories or novellas under 100 pages. (This won't work for audio books. Their page numbers are misleading :)

6) Is there a possibility that you have duplicates on your TBR shelf? Remove them by going to your To-Read shelf, click on 'Batch Edit', and then click on the 'Find Duplicates' button.

If you have another idea, post them here, please.

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1987 comments All those free boxes/anthologies/collections often have many freebies included which means for people like me there’s another source of duplicates that are not easily found :-(
So I’ll try to check at least three of those against my GR shelves and Amazon library per week.
Sounds like a lot of work at first but imagine a situation I managed early this week: I’ve read a freebie, liked it, started to add the other books to my shelves and Amazon list only to find out a day later (per chance) I already have the one I read and #2 in series in a box. Now I’ll have to transfer my notes to the box before I delete the single book edition, that’s even more work.

On the other hand, those who can multitask, can listen to a book while getting rid of even more books - so double win :-D

Marty (martymill) | 1299 comments This is a great list. I need to do this, I'm dealing with 4000+ TBR.
