Stacey interviews Terence Birch, the church bell ringer who discovered Sandra’s body, and finds him extremely hostile and uncooperative. She later learns that he stalked a woman, even spent some time in prison for it, forcing her to move away. Was it an error on Kim’s part to send her there alone? Did you ever suspect he’d turn his attention to Stacey from that first encounter?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Kim didn't make a mistake because Birch seemed meek and mild in her meeting. I suspected that Birch was hiding something, but I didn't suspect him of the murder yet. He did scare me though.

I think it’s always risky to not interview in pairs until you know who you’re dealing with. Terence discovered the body and was a potential suspect. I think it was a misstep to have her do it alone. After that first encounter? I figured he’d be angry at her, never enthralled with Stacey!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Interesting. The rest of the team go alone on occasion. Stacey has gone alone in the past too. I didn't think that Terence was a threat so Stacey should of handled him alone.

I could be wrong but they’ve gone alone on follow up.

This was a follow-up in my mind. We will see when the next book comes out. I know Kim has gone on her own many times. Penn goes out alone, and I think Bryant has too. It would be wrong if Kim didn't trust Stacey to do the same.
