Welcome to the The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on June 16th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

Thanks! It looks like the book is divided into 24 parts but they are not numbered like chapters, rather they are days in a log/journal.

So an even schedule would be:

Just started! Todays section is quite short.

I’m interested to find out what happened in Rosemary’s past that made her need to start over with a new identity.

Caught up today. There is a LOT of worldbuilding… I thought this would be more fluff than hard sci-fi. I’m okay with that, i think, I just need to adjust my expectations.

I really liked the description of the “punch”.

I just started this book. I stopped at technical Details. I am also intrigued on what Rosemary did to have to leave and change her identity. I do enjoy how all the characters have there own depth and uniqueness. Hopefully I can catch up to everyone else.

Had a long trip today so I read past the normal schedule… I’m at about 85%. It feels really episodic so far, every crew member and every alien race gets their mini deep dive vignette. I love all the crew members and especially love Rosemary’s romance. However the pace is still a bit too slow for me. I wish there was a little more action or something.

Finished today! Good reading. (view spoiler)[I thought the ending was a little anti-climactic because the plot was so episodic. Still, the book was really smart and inventive. (hide spoiler)]

I got my book back from work so I am super behind but I'm going to try and read some this evening though I don't know how far I'll get

I am in the middle of chapter called Port control. The market is fascinating. I am hoping to read a big chunk this weekend. The writing is so good. It’s scientific, but not educationally boring.

I am in love with book. Just thought I would share that. Just finished Cricket.
