Medieval History Professor MacKenna crashes the wedding reception with dire warnings of “bad blood” and doomed marriages over an ancient feud between the Buchanans and MacKennas with ramblings about a stolen treasure. Share your first thoughts about the so called feud and “stolen treasure”. Did you put any merit in it or brush it off as a nutty professor’s rambling?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I kept an open mind although I did think that Jordan was going to go on a treasure hunt. I did think Professor MacKenna was going to be the nutty professor.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I wasn't sure that there was any treasure to be found. The professor's appearance (uninvited) at the wedding struck me as very strange, period.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I was pretty sure that his research was valid, slanted for sure, but valid. That said, the professor himself didn't come across as especially professional and his views were definitely biased.

I agree with Charlene that his appearance at the wedding was strange, and it was never fully explained either.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I thought that there was communication between the professor and Kate. He wasn't invited to the wedding, but he said he was leaving town and wanted to give Kate the history. I didn't think that was strange.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments He communicated with Isabel, not Kate. Isabel inherited the MacKenna land in Scotland and had been in contact with the professor regarding his research and sort of invited him to the wedding. Why he came is what was never fully explained.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments You're right. I was thinking the bride instead of the sister. For some reason the professor showing up didn't seem strange to me. I need to check the book out again.

Yes, he'd been communicating with Isabel. Jordan talked to him & he gave her the whole spill. For some reason, Isabel couldn't go get the research so Jordan ended up going.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Isabel was heading to college and Jordan was looking for an adventure to prove to Noah that she could indeed step out of her comfort zone.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I figured the professor had some actual facts mixed in with his crazy stories of the feud between the Buchanans and the McKennas. I figure about 30% of it was true.
