Jordan travels to Serenity, Texas to retrieve the professor’s research in spite of being skeptical over his claims. It isn’t long before she becomes friendly with several of the locals even picking up a bit of their slang and accepting invitations to a baby shower. Share your thoughts over Jordan’s ability to “fit in” with people far removed from her big city world. What do these scenes tell you about Jordan and what purpose do they serve in the scope of this story?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Honestly, I thought it was strange that she bought such an expensive gift for someone she didn't know. It felt like she was pulled into the shower.

I did like that Jordan was open to the invitation and making friends with the town folks. She is a giving person. I liked see thing that part of her personality.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I thought it was very manipulative of the gals doing the shower to hit Jordan up for such a big purchase for someone she hardly had met. This may be where Noah's comment about her social life went overboard in her "new" mindset.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Great points Charlene. I thought it was nice they invited her until they put her on the spot for such an expensive gift, then I wasn't so sure about the bunch of them.

I kept waiting for something else to happen to show they weren't such nice people, but this small town was very open and accepting of her even after the bodies stated to show up.

Jordan is a genuine and nice person, that is why they were so kind to her.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I agree about the gift. It was nice that she was invited to the shower, but they should have just told her that she didn't need to bring a gift since she actually had just met the bride-to-be.

Jessica | 156 comments Jordan's sociability with the townspeople is part of what I liked about this book and part of what made me like Jordan.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree Jessica. It tells us a lot about Jordan when we see how much the local people are drawn to her.
