Early on, Jordan and readers are casually introduced to a couple of influential local men including Dave Trumbo and Eli Whitaker. Did anything strike you odd about either man? Did either of these men ping on your radar as possible villains? Thoughts?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments Trumbo just struck me as a stereotypical "used car salesman." Eli Whitaker was really full of himself and thought he could throw his weight around to get his way (if I am remembering this long after I read the book). I don't think they hit my radar as villains in the matter of murder.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments At this point everyone pinged on my suspect radar. But I thought they were both nice successful businessmen. Neither man was particularly suspicious to me.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Both seemed like small town businessmen to me. I didn't think too much about them. It isn't until later in the book that I started to look more closely at these two.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Dave Trumbo was a talker. I like Charlene's description of him being a "used car salesman". It fits. Eli Whitaker was a rich rancher who didn't have much to say. I was a little suspicious of him just because he never said much. But everyone was friendly with him and I really didn't have a reason for my suspicion.
