Hi all, here's the post to make suggestions for the next book. Usual rules apply.

Please make sure you give a sentence or two why you think we should read it together, not just a list of books you're planning on reading.

If a book is recommended that you also want to recommend, you can mention it again to add support. If there's a bunch of titles, I'll just pick the ones that seem to have the most interest in the poll, if there's just a few i"ll pull them all.

This is a new selection round, so if you want to suggest a book you've suggested before, put it here again to be considered, I won't be going back to past suggestion posts.

Happy reading everyone!

Megan | 244 comments I'll nominate The Brass Queen - I became aware of it when a friend expressed her frustration at being unable to determine when the sequel is coming out, which if you think about it is a pretty high compliment. It's got steampunk, adventure, and according to reports great characters. And it's a debut author, which is always nice to support!

Kassia Dickson (bookishteach22) | 8 comments It came close to winning when I suggested it before, on the plus side there’s now also a sequel people could read if they enjoy it. I’d like to nominate “A Spindle Splintered” by Alix E. Harrow. It is a shorter story, but well worth the time! This book is a snarky blend of humor, fairy tales, and the eternal struggle of women who wish to be treated as human beings. Sleeping Beauty meets the Multi-Verse, as two women from different worlds struggle to break free from their fates. Once again Alice E. Harrow has woven modernity with tradition in a way that brings the fairy tales of our childhood to life, while also shining a light on the struggles of those often relegated to the shadows. This story begs the question: What would you do to live one more day?

I propose Ancillary Justice; everyone raves about this series and I've been meaning to give it a try for a while. I've read one other book by Ann Leckie - The Raven Tower - and really loved it.

Just as a note, it looks like we DID read a Spindle Splintered back in 2021. i liked it! But we could read another of her books or the sequel if you want to change the recommendation
