SarahKat | 6223 comments This thread is to discuss Rogue Protocol, the third book in the Murderbot Diaries series by Martha Wells.

Pages: 158 pages

Length: 1 month (July)

Participants: Caterina, Desiré, Rebecca, Beth

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

Beth | 1553 comments Yay Murderbot 3!

Beth | 1553 comments I was happy to get to the next installment of this series. It is my least favorite so far; I’d say 3.75 starts compared to 4 for the first two. He’s still his snarky self.

Favorite quote: I signaled Miki I would be withdrawing for one minute. I needed to have an emotion in private.

Caterina | 570 comments This was my least favorite of the three books, but still a really fun read. I would put it at 4.5 stars.

As always, I enjoy Murderdot and its internal dialogue so much. These novellas are too short and I need more of this.

@Beth: I loved that quote as well. "I needed to have an emotion in private." I felt that.

I also liked this quote: ‘I hate caring about stuff. But apparently once you start, you can't just stop.’

Caterina | 570 comments I should also add, a friend of mine (who does book reviews) got an advance copy of System Collapse, the 7th book in the series that comes out later this year. I might ask to borrow that copy once we are done with our reading.

Desiré (desiremorebooks) | 587 comments Finally got my copy from the library today!
