He wants revenge, but he wants her more…

James has always had one agenda: destroy his enemy, Peter Michaels. When Peter’s twenty-year-old daughter Wendy shows up in James’s bar, he sees his way in. Seduce the girl and use her for his revenge. It’s the perfect plan, until things in James’s organization begin to crumble. Suddenly, he has to find the traitor in his midst, and his plan for revenge gets murkier as James starts to see Wendy as more than just a pawn in his game.

Wendy has been cloistered away most of her life by her wealthy cold father, but a spontaneous night out with friends turns into an intense and addictive love affair with the dark and brooding James. As much as she knows James is dangerous, Wendy can’t seem to shake her desire for him. But as their relationship grows more heated and she learns more about the world he moves in, she finds herself unsure if she’s falling for the man known as James or the monster known as Hook.

I'm doing the audio of this and I hate the accent of all of the side characters, my most hated accent

I read another "dark romance" story and I enjoyed it more 🫤

Yeah this was basic but I liked the Peter Pan bits

I am at Chapter 18 now and must say I enjoy the book more than I thought I will.

(view spoiler)[I must say the way Peter treats his son, I am not a fan, why doesn't he care for his son. While his daughter is all he care about? No just No. James, I know he is supposed to be this big bad guy but he fell for Wendy a bit too early and easy in my opinion. (hide spoiler)]

Currently on page 109, I just finished Gild and so I'm gonna finish my other currently reading soon

I completely agree with you as well, I am not a fan of him at all as well because. It is giving Oedipus/Jocasta complex. But considering the trauma he went through as a child I get why he fell for her so quickly.

There is too much violence on this guy. Wendy is way too innocent for him. Maria is rude! No wonder she puts off that aura. I wonder why Hook killed his uncle? (hide spoiler)]

Definitely interested in reading the second one. I honest messed up and read the 5th book first, but I was happy to know that these books are pretty much stand alones in a series

I think they're all about different characters. I'm not sure if there are any references in any of them.
