Thank you. The group feels a very welcoming place. I read a review here in the UK that said 'Lessons' was McEwan's best book since 'Atonement'. I have high hopes!

Our book discussions never close, so feel free to contribute to that discussion or any other that interests you.

Finished Demon Copperhead today...off to check out the discussion of the book--thanks, Lynn, for reposting. I've just checked out Rachel Yoder's Nightbitch and Lisa Rochon's Tuscan Daughter from the library...

What reader doesn't love to find books that they might never have picked up before hearing about them from others! I love finding the literary gems that sit quietly on the shelves in bookshops. I recently finished Molly Keane's 'Good Behaviour' because I heard it was a particular favourite of Hilary Mantel. I loved it, but would never have picked it up had I not had heard such an endorsement for it. I'm looking forward to finding many more through groups like this.
I've posted on the Demon Copperhead thread also.
Love Vancouver too!

Absolutely agree, Craig. Publishers choose certain books to focus on, sometimes with good reason, while others, though excellent, don't get that kind of attention. And there's simply too much to read! But I certainly trust other readers' recommendations more than general media reviews. Glad you enjoy Vancouver! I've heard Yorkshire is beautiful as well.
I'm Craig, based in Yorkshire, England. I have spent my entire career (so far!) working around books in bookshops or publishing houses, and I am looking forward to joining your discussions. I will get myself organised for the Ian McEwan book coming up for discussion in August. I wonder if I find he has returned to form with 'Lessons'?
Favourite writers/books include Kazuo Ishiguro (The Remains of the Day is my all-time favourite book), Shirley Jackson, Charlotte Bronte, Peter Carey, and others.
I have just finished 'Good Behaviour' by Molly Keane (very much enjoyed it) and now starting 'Demon Copperhead.'
And that's me!
