eventhough we're basically family and are comfortable around each other I'm always doubting my worth, not wanting to get too close to anyone because it gets harder to recover the closer you are to someone and im scared one day you'll realise you deserve more

when you've been vulnerable around someone and in a moment of weakness told them something about yourself then from then on you feel like you have to let them in since no one else knows that about you, sometimes you feel trapped in your own emotions and the easiest thing to do is turn to the person who's waiting, eventhough you should know they're intentions aren't pure and you should take longer to find someone to turn to but make sure they're there for you, not anything you can give them

I see a double meaning in this. Some people interpret it as shes never felt this sort of love before, but i see it in the way that she now can't communicate to anyone else how she feels. She has to keep it secret. Its almost like hes given her something she wants to speak happily about then denied her the right to celebrate it.

I read an online dissertation on folklore/evermore as part of my research and it was amazing ill have to try and find the link
there are three songs that overlap and tell the story of a love triangle which I think is a very interesting feature to have in an album. Although these small details may not be initially noticed when you first listen to the album, Swift confirms that she ‘created character arcs and recurring themes that map out who is singing about who’.the story of the three teenagers begins with track 8 ‘August’, which is from the perspective of Augustine, the ‘other girl’ James spent his summer with. It is based on her experience of the summer and dives deep into her emotions with her feeling both betrayal and sentiment, where I think personally, she was looking back with regret rather than bitterness. Swift writes that the month of August ‘sipped away like a bottle of wine’ which gives a double meaning: Augustine knew her summer days were dwindling and once the bottle of wine had finally slipped, she was no longer ‘drunk on love’ . This line also works really well because they were underage, so therefore wine would be illegal just like how their relationship was wrong and secretive.
James narrates the song with a strong victim mentality, claiming ‘I'm only seventeen, I don't know anything’. This is ironic, because in the song Cardigan, James’ girlfriend Betty says ‘when you are young they assume you know nothing’ which exposes the maturity gap between the two.

There are countless other attributes to Folklore that make it such a beautiful album that could be talked about in a lot more great detail. Here are some examples.
The bonus track ‘The Lakes’, where Taylor Swift writes about the Lake District and its poets, showing themes of Romanticism in her lyrics. Taylor writes ‘tell me what are my words worth?’, and if you haven’t already noticed this has both its literal meaning and a direct link to William Wordsworth, i think its quite a clever use of play on words.

mirrorball - "and when I break its in a million pieces" reminds me of building up all of your emotions inside of you and hiding them from the world until you just can't anymore
seven - "love you to the moon and to saturn" its more than the typical love you to the moon and back
august - "to live for the hope of it all, cancel plans just in case you'd call" the kind of love that has you doing this and the pain that comes after it

in conclusion folklore is just a MASTERPIECE of an album that I will never get over
Same the atw 10 min movie got me into being a swifite and folklore/evemore has kept me a swiftie
