How to Participate:

The Audiobook Challenge is designed to not only help you to read your audiobooks, but to also find out about other great audiobooks from other challenge participants!

Though you may pop in/out at any time, the Audiobook Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.

There are no minimum page requirements, and you can read abridged or unabridged audiobooks!

1. At the beginning of the month, post :
a: How many audiobooks in total you want to read for the month
b: How many audiobooks in the monthly category you want to read
c: Post the audiobooks (as you decide on them) by linking them to Goodreads in your post

2. During the month, read the audiobooks that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)

3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s) - note: can only be linked to Goodreads and not an external site
c: How many audiobooks you have read for this challenge this year

Then start a new post for the next month!

MY MONTHLY RECOMMENDATION (and why):

Life, the Universe and Everything (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, #3) by Douglas Adams Life, the Universe and Everything An amazing look into life, the world around you and the mysteries of space as well as the mysteries of the world. The fact that Arthur gets fobbed off again and again by so many of the other characters but also his own stupidity at times it really shows the differences. I loved this book it was so much better than the last and seeing Arthur grow in so many ways and the chaos of the lives intertwining was amazing. I hope that the strengths from this book grows more.

The Stars Have Eyes by Exterminatus The Stars Have Eyes
I absolutely loved this book. It is so very different to Everybody Loves Large Chests and yet has so much personality. Mags and Jo are such amazingly aware and dense people at the same time the chaos of her coming to his realm was enthralling. A romance story of a very different nature but the social commentary and English nature really had me enjoying every minute.
Soundbooth Theatre did an amazing job bringing it to life for audio. I am so glad that it is available to more people who may not know of Royal Road.

Donne | 28 comments Well, I think I'm going to forgo this months challenge. After reviewing my to-read list (all 242 books), only a handful or so were written in the 20th century. I will, of course, check in during the month to check out what everyone else is reading. Hopefully, I can find some good stuff to add to my list. Good luck everyone and have fun😊

Yes, it was super relaxed/relaxing, though not very audiobook-friendly, as my family kept wanting to talk to me. ;) (Tiresome MEN :D)

So now I have sent them away from home and am on an audible rampage. ;)
(Marauding Monsters also gave me a necessary push to get out of the voluntary holiday reading slump ;)

Books in category: 3

FINISHED: 3 and these are also my recommendations.

The Great Siege Malta 1565 by Ernle Bradford The Great Siege: Malta 1565 by Ernle Bradford - originally published January 1, 1961.
This book was included for free in the Audible Plus Catalogue, and despite being biased and glossing over some negative facts about the Order of the Knight Hospitallers, it was super captivating and exciting, like listening to a docu drama.
Narrator Simon Vance was great.

2-3
The Disorderly Knights (The Lymond Chronicles, #3) by Dorothy Dunnett (1st published January 1, 1966) and Pawn in Frankincense (The Lymond Chronicles, #4) by Dorothy Dunnett (1st published January 1, 1969) by Dorothy Dunnett

Actually I was mostly reading these books on kindle, but occasionally switched to the audiobook because of the narrator's (David Monteath) lovely Scottish accent.

I find this whole historical fiction series (the Lymond Chronicles) magnificent: the books are erudite and demanding your full attention, but absolutely worth it.

I failed this one. Only read 4 books in August and they were all fairly recent :(

Kristie | 3595 comments I also failed, Karen. I found 13 that would fit the challenge and listened to 6 other books that did not. Fortunately, there's always next month.
