So the publication dates, using first edition published is 2008-2023.

I realize that a book you might want to include could come out in the last months of this year and we are excluding them.

We could ask at the end of the year if there is any which would have been included as an appendum.

Karin | 9227 comments I will come back another day to edit the list I'm working on. I did 15 years, silly me! That was only after I had been using the entire century (not sure where I pulled that from, but I hadn't read this today.)

I many not give many books 5 stars, but I read so many that there are too many choices even for me! However, if I limit authors to only one book I can eliminate one, and then I'll reconsider ones I know no one else has read, but might not eliminate those all if I really think they need to be kept.

message 18: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12930 comments Wait - 15 for 15 does not discriminate fiction/NF. As i was going through, I already created my NF list and its bigger than I imagined.

I'm with Cindy. I have 12 very serious contenders for the top 15 (fiction) books. Two I haven't read yet, and only one I will get to by August's end and 16 more next level contenders thrown apart by just a hair..

Booknblues | 12082 comments I'm loving seeing all these list.

Many have books I considered putting on my list, some I'm undecided about and some which are on my list.

It is a hard task, but I love the reminder of all the many books I've loved during this time period.

message 22: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12575 comments Amy wrote: "We Were the Lucky Ones is actually Non-Fiction - All True"

No Amy it is a fictional account based on a true story

message 23: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12930 comments Is that so? I hadn’t known that. I don’t know how much of it is sectional, and how much of it is not, but does that mean it’s not on the top 100 nonfiction list? Because it should be on one list or the other.

message 24: by Joanne (last edited Aug 02, 2023 08:02AM) (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12575 comments I do not think it is there, and if it is not, it is one that I think I will add when re-do it.

I know there are notes in the back of the book on where she took liberties with the people and places.

It was a darn good book!

message 25: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15536 comments There is a genre that is fictionalized non-fiction or some similar name where most of the book is real/true with some creatively added material fleshing it out or providing a structure. I have read 2 or 3 over the last few years - The Cottingley Secret includes real diaries letters etc. From the time period around which a fictional structure written to enhance and add researched materials. The Lost Love Letters of Henri Fournier is almost entirely real and true.

However, for this list of 15, it can be any genre, not just fiction.

My reading has exploded since 2016 (and I read lots of new releases) so the majority of my selections are newer books. I hope one day to get a chance to go back to 2008 and read more of the noteworthy books. I am sure the PBT Lists posted here will help me select which ones to add to my TBR.

LibraryCin | 11695 comments Amy wrote: "Wait - 15 for 15 does not discriminate fiction/NF. As i was going through, I already created my NF list and its bigger than I imagined. ..."

Oh, shoot! I was also separating fiction from nonfiction! Thank you for mentioning this. I need to try again! (Which means I have more than 13 and will need to whittle further...)

ETA: Ok, not as bad as I thought. I think I've only added 3 nonfiction, which means I only need to take out one altogether... But I should check my entire list again (on LT); I had written things down on paper, but I realized part-way through (I think) that I was doing both fiction and non-... then thought it was only fiction, so I think my paper does not have all the possible non-fiction it could.

message 31: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12930 comments Those are both somewhere on my list as well. I am for this 15 for 15 going to separate fiction and nonfiction. Because I already started compiling a list of non-fiction books that I think are worthy of the hundred fiction list. And I have a good 30 to pare down to my 15. As I said, I won’t be posting mine for a couple of weeks, because I’m reading demon copperhead this month. And that and the covenant of water are two that I would want to try to get to you before compiling this list. It is very unlikely I will get through a covenant of water in August, but I left some space in my mind for a future good read. But the truth is it’s already covered by you guys so it doesn’t actually need to be added by me. But it was pretty interesting to see what makes the list. A lot of beginnings of phenomenal series. Including Beartown and Golem and the Jinni. I’m excited to pare down that list, and see what actually makes it. Glad to know I can have some honorable mentions.
