I am about half way through Arm of the sphinx but it has been a few years since I read sending ascends and I may have forgotten things. (Or maybe things that I’m confused about get wrapped up in this book ?)
Spoilers follow:
While escaping luc Marat, sensing pulls out his painting and then later he pulls it out from behind a panel on the ship. Does he have more than one painting?
While speaking with the sphinx, it is stated that there is a painting for each ringdom from the bricklayer, who is long dead. Isn’t the painting of Marya? How could a long dead person have arranged these paintings if Marya has been in the tower only a year?

I probably have misread something at some point.
Thanks
