After not enjoying Sand I wasn't too excited to read this novel. But it turned out to be surprisingly good.
The main story was different from what I expected, which made me curious to know more. Hugh Howey starts with a series of strange events happening one after another. This builds up tension that lasts until the very end of the book.
I really liked the main characters and strongly disliked the villain. I also got attached to the other characters (Holston, Jahns, Marnes), (view spoiler)[even though the author quickly got rid of them in the story. (hide spoiler)]
The ending felt a bit sudden, maybe because it wasn't described in much detail. It seemed like the author was tired of writing it and wanted to finish it as quickly as possible.
